Propuesta de valorización de los residuos sólidos urbanos en la localidad de Hermenegildo Galeana, Acapulco de Juárez, Gro.

Abstract

The general objective of this research project was to design a proposal for the recovery of urban solid waste (USW), generated in the town of Hermenegildo Galeana, municipality of Acapulco de Juárez, Guerrero. To obtain this objective, two specific objectives were established: a) describe the actions carried out by the local inhabitants in the management of USW and b) propose sustainable economic alternatives for the management of USW in the locality. The existing environmental problem in the town of Hermenegildo Galeana, around the inadequate management of USW has derived from problems such as the inefficiency of the public collection service, bad habits, misinformation, lack of alternatives for the management of its waste, as well as the lack of surveillance by environmental authorities, which has caused its inhabitants to resort to inappropriate practices, resulting in contamination of the soil, air and water. Qualitative methodology was used, through the use of the Participatory Action Research (IAP) tool, where five phases of intervention were developed: 1) Sociodemographic data of the community, 2) Characteristics of the group, 3) Evaluation of the group's perceptions, 4) Execution and implementation, 5) Final evaluation. The final result was the minimization of contamination problems by USW in the town, the change of bad habits and customs, as well as the installation of a USW collection and exchange center managed by local inhabitants.
